Acne Treatment

Anyone who has acne is always on the lookout for an acne treatment that will get rid of their problem.

Be it pimples, sores, whiteheads, blackheads, zits and the resulting scarring, acne is a confidence leaching problem that can have a deep impact on one’s being. A person who has the problem is always expecting a negative reaction to their skin and suffers immense damage to their self-esteem.

There are various acne treatments available today. What one has to know however, is that resolving the problem takes time and that an acne treatment that works for one person may not necessarily do the same for another. Each person’s problem is unique and requires acne treatment specifically suited to them. In some cases, a dermatologist may be required to prescribe one or more acne treatments suitable to the individual.

A few tips regarding skin care to help you get the most out of your chosen acne treatment:

  • Do not squeeze or pop acne. Popping or squeezing does not solve the problem. In fact it can aggravate it by spreading the inflammation.

  • Use toiletries and cosmetic products that state they are “noncomedogenic” i.e. they don’t clog the pores.

  • Wash your skin gently twice a day with a noncomedogenic product and pat your skin dry. Do not scrub as this will only irritate your already aggravated skin.

  • Avoid excessive exposure to the sun.

  • Allow acne treatment products time to do their job. Remember, resolution of the problem takes time.

Acne treatment, if started early can minimize what could potentially become a very embarrassing and confidence stealing problem. Most dermatologists recommend early acne treatment in order to optimize its effectiveness as well as to avoid probable scarring.
